Language & Literacy Narrative Cover Letter

Cover Letter
Dear Professor,
In this class so far I have learned a lot, from how language is essential in everyone’s life to how language can vary in many ways for every different individual. Thus far I have understood the meaning of “code switching” and how people can find their own way to make use of their language and culture, In one of the readings we did in class based on a story of how a group of students was in an airport and then cops were trying to take advantage of them and thinking of them as inferior, but because of the teacher’s professionalism and being able to speak perfect proper standard English, they managed to put the cops in their place. You have made this class very interesting and fun for me. I can’t wait to keep learning more from you and your class. Not only this but I feel like taking this class makes me become better as a person but also makes me better at writing in standard English and better expressing my thoughts into words.

While Writing my personal language I realized how many different ideas I have whenever it comes to writing personal narratives and also writing in general, at first I was thinking about writing about all the expectations the parents of immigrants kids could have when they come here to America, but then I was thinking about writing about how hard it is for immigrants when they come here, but then I was thinking about writing something personal to me, and I had many Ideas but then I started thinking that if I wrote everything I had in mind it would have had come to like 17 pages and for a narrative essay I think that’s too long and the reader can be bored so I tried to make best of my Ideas and show how essential culture can be in a person’s life and how even though the language might hurt you it could also benefit you.

In my personal essay based on culture and language, I focused on writing about how always remaining part of your family and culture can play an important role in your life and I tried to uncle a little about how coming to a new country can open many challenges for immigrants who do not necessarily speak English, and how I’ll always try to achieve my dream for all the hard work my family and parents have gone through.

Thank you,
